Stages of Assessment

Services We Offer

Currently we offer comprehensive Autism Assessments completed by two clinical psychologists. We know how challenging travelling can be, so we can offer assessments at our base near Southampton, Hampshire, at a location closer to your home, or at your home – if appropriate.

Autism Assessment Process

01

Initial Contact

Simply contact us via the form on our website to refer yourself or your child for a private autism (ASD) assessment.

02

Screening Questionnaires

We will send screening questionnaires for you or your child to complete. These screen for autism as well as other mental health conditions such as anxiety and depression, as co‑occurring difficulties are common.

03

School Information

For child assessments, screening questionnaires will also be sent to your child’s school. We ask the school to provide a brief descriptive account to help us understand how your child presents in the school environment.

04

Clinical Review of Screening Information

Once all questionnaires (including those from school, if applicable) have been received, a £150 fee is charged. A clinician will then review all information gathered to confirm whether a full autism assessment is clinically indicated.

05

Developmental Interview (ADI‑R)

If a full assessment is indicated, we will arrange the Autism Diagnostic Interview‑Revised (ADI‑R). This is a detailed developmental interview with parents or carers, focusing on behaviours over time.

  • Completed via Zoom, or at our clinic in Hampshire. Alternatively, we can facilitate this assessment at your home address (travel costs apply).
  • This should take approximately 2–3 hours to complete.
  • For adult assessments, inclusion of a parent informant is preferred, but another close family member or someone who knows you well can also take part.

06

Face‑to‑Face Assessment (ADOS‑2)

A face‑to‑face Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule‑2 (ADOS‑2) assessment is then completed at our clinic in Hampshire, or alternatively at your home address (travel costs apply). This should take around one hour to complete.

07

Report and Feedback

Following the assessment, you will receive a comprehensive written report outlining conclusions and recommendations. A feedback session via Zoom (lasting up to 60 minutes) will be arranged to discuss the report and answer any questions.

08

Ongoing Support and Signposting

If further support is needed, we can signpost you to appropriate clinicians and services.
